The Rural Electric Economic Development (REED) Fund was established in 1996 and is a non-profit corporation that’s owned and governed by East River member cooperatives serving eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota.

Over the past 20 years, the revolving loan fund has been involved in more than 387 projects and has invested more than $117 million in rural areas. REED assists projects that promote growth and contribute to job, business and wealth creation, as well as improve the infrastructure, community facilities, services and economic base of rural areas.

These projects are helping to pave the road to new opportunity for people and communities in East River’s service territory.

Helping Rural Communities

The mission of the REED Fund is to support East River’s member cooperatives in providing financing and helping leverage investment in communities and rural areas to make a difference in our region.
